  1. Jaisalmer fort

Also known as the Golden fort, it's one of the largest forts in the World. As soon as you arrive at the entrance of the fort, you will find there a number of guides who charge around 100-300 INR/ 1-5 USD's, they will take you through the entire famous spots of the fort. The best thing about this place is that it's a living fort.


2. Patwon ki Haveli

A cluster of five Havelis, it's the largest Haveli of Jaisalmer. A part of the Haveli is museum where you will see the art works, paintings, objects used by the residents of the Haveli. You will get a great view of the fort from the top of Haveli. There are even many more Havelis to explore in Jaisalmer.


3. Jain Temples

You will find plenty of beautiful ancient temples famous for its beautiful architectures in the Jaisalmer fort.


4. Gadisar lake

This lake was built in 1400 AD and is one of the famous spots surrounded with beautiful temples. You can take a boat ride to explore the beauty of the lake and you will get to know about the history of this place.


5. Jasialmer desert

Just 30-45 mins away from the city you can explore the beauty of the desert. You can book a tent here where you can enjoy the various performances and Rajasthani dinner in the evening and in the early morning you can take a camel ride to the desert and even enjoy other activities such as parasailing, desert safari and much more. All these activities (excluding parasailing) are included in a one single package which you can book in the city itself.


6. Jaisalmer War Museum

The museum showcases the bravery and courage of Indian Army. The museum displays a number of tanks, weapons, two information display halls, a theatre and much more. The museum is 15 kms away from the city on Jaisalmer- Jodhpur highway.


7. Lodarwaji Jain Temple

Just 10-20 mins away from the city is this beautiful and famous Jain Temple. If you've got some extra time then you can visit this beautiful temple.

 

EXTRA TIPS:

  1. 2 days are sufficient to explore Jaisalmer.

  2. For one night you can book a tent in the desert. You will get a wonderful view of sunrise from the desert.

  3. Best time to visit is during the winter/ new year. (between September- February)

  4. You can also visit famous spots such as Ramdevra or Tanot Mata Temple near Jaisalmer.

  5. Best way to explore the beautiful places of Rajasthan is by hiring a private car through which you can even enjoy the beautiful temples and other places on the way. Jaisalmer can be explored along with Jodhpur.
